«H.H Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai attended the opening ceremony of the legendary Atlantis Hotel which was held by Nakheel to mark the launch of the biggest and most luxurious resort in the Middle East. The party cost is said to have cost 20 million dollars.
Also present at the ceremony which started on November 20 night were H.H Sheikh Mansour Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, and Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of Nakheel and a host of super stars and celebrities, VIP's, politicians and businessmen from all over the world.
Upon Sheikh Maktoum's arrival at the Atlantis, dazzling fireworksalong the shores of the man-made Jumeirah Palm island marked the official launch of the iconic landmark owned by international hotelier, South African billionaire Sol Kerzner, Chairman of Kerzner International.
Australian singer Kylie Minogue, enthralled audiences alongside Middle Eastern pop sensation Nawal Zogby. Some of the stars who attended the grand opening included actor Robert De’Niro; singer Janet Jackson; Bollywood celebrity Priyanka Chopra; basketball legend Michael Jordan; Virgin’s Richard Branson among a host of other celebrities.
