"Princesshay", di Land Securities, vince un Award ICSC

21/04/2008

«The Princesshay scheme in Exeter, delivered by Land Securities, has won a prestigious ICSC award, having been named as the most outstanding medium sized shopping centre in Europe. The retail-led mixed use development provides 37,160 m2 (400,000 sq ft) of prime retail and 12,077 m2 (130,000 sq ft) of much sought after residential apartments.

For the past 30 years the ICSC Awards, recognised as the most prestigious in the field of European retail property, have acknowledged the most outstanding new and
refurbished shopping centres in Europe. Princesshay, the only UK shopping centre short listed as a finalist, impressed judges in a number of areas including, its attractive
architecture, distinctive mix of national and independent tenants such as LK Bennett, Karen Millen, Reiss, AH Moda and Orange Tree and its ability to deliver long term
economic, environmental and social benefits to Exeter’s residential and business communities.

The main focal point of the scheme is the new European-styled Princesshay Square, home to a striking Pavilion building and featuring innovative, contemporary public art that complements the sweeping views of Exeter’s historic cathedral. The large, vibrant square piazza has become the city’s new destination for socialising with eateries including La Tasca, Strada and Café Rouge.

Working in partnership with Exeter City Council, Princesshay’s £225 million investment represents the biggest single investment in regeneration within Exeter’s history and has further strengthened the city’s status as the region’s capital.

Nick Davis, Development Director, Land Securities comments:

“The ICSC Awards represent the best of the best in the retail industry across Europe and we are delighted that Princesshay has been recognised as a leading example of mixed use development. Working in close partnership with Exeter City Council, we have delivered a scheme which promotes permeability and integration within the existing urban grain.

“The ICSC Award adds to the several awards Princesshay has won since opening last year, including the BCSC Gold Award, and provides further evidence of Land Securities’ expertise in delivering contemporary retail-led urban regeneration schemes.”

Cllr Pete Edwards, Leader, comments:

“We are very pleased that Princesshay has been recognised at European level for the very high quality of its design and content. This award is important in highlighting the City’s profile and it’s also good that the work of the whole professional team has been rewarded.”

• Land Securities is the UK’s leading Real Estate Investment Trust with a national portfolio of commercial property worth over £14 billion. Our investment portfolio also has around 60 retail parks and shopping centres including Birmingham’s Bullring centre and Exeter’s award-winning Princesshay site.

• Land Securities’ multi billion pound development programme is transforming regional city centres including Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow and Leeds, key sites in Central London and delivering long-term, large-scale regeneration projects in the South East.
