"Martyn Chase, DTZ’s EMEA retail chairman, has been appointed president of the BCSC (formerly known as the British Council of Shopping Centres) in the organisation's 25th anniversary year.Set up in 1983 and boasting 2,600 members, BCSC is the national organisation which aims to enhance and drive the UK retail property industry, and Martyn Chase replaces John Bullough, chief operating officer at Aldar Properties as president. DTZ is a pre-eminent retail property adviser in the UK and EMEA, and 2008 sees the opening of a number of landmark retail projects on which DTZ has advised, including Victoria Square, Belfast and Highcross, Leicester. DTZ plays a leading role in the management and thought leadership of BCSC and in addition to Martyn Chase's new role, a number of DTZ directors and associates are board members, part of managing committees, and help arrange conferences and awards programmes for the organisation.
