Helsinki, riapre ampliato il Centro Commerciale "Zeppelin"

02/11/2011

The Zeppelin shopping centre, located in Kempele and owned by the property investment company Sponda Plc, celebrates the inauguration of the shopping centre’s new expanded premises today. The expansion project, completed in 2011, increased the leasable area of Northern Finland’s largest shopping centre to approximately 30,150 m².The project was completed on a tight schedule and expanded the shopping centre by 8,700 m². The Prisma hypermarket in Zeppelin was expanded by 4,000 m², and the remaining 4,700 m² of the expansion were devoted to specialty retail.- The new premises, in fact the entire shopping centre, are fully occupied. All 23 shop spaces in the expansion area were leased out in the summer, says Olli Lehtoaro, Vice President, Shopping Centres at Sponda.Since 1992, the shopping centre has offered services to the residents of the Kempele and Oulu region. The expansion project supplements the services of the shopping centre and improves the service offering in the entire region. It is expected that this will bring a new impetus to the shopping centre and increase the number of customers and the total sales in Zeppelin. The target is to grow the number of visitors by 25% and the annual number of customers to over 4 million. Now that the expansion project has been completed, Zeppelin houses several popular fashion brands: Vero Moda, Jack & Jones, Cubus, JC-Jeans&Clothes, Zizzi, Carlings, Jim & Jill and Stadium, to name just a few. Ulla & Johann Popken, a German fashion store for men and women, opens its first store in Finland in the Zeppelin expansion. With the expansion, the Prisma hypermarket nearly doubled its area. In particular, the hypermarket increased its general goods department but the daily consumer goods department also benefitted from more space.

Before the expansion project started, the residents of the region were given a chance to influence the development of the shopping centre. A customer survey was carried out two years ago to find out the residents’ wishes regarding the development of services and other offerings provided by the shopping centre. These wishes were used as guidelines for Sponda’s development project. Procedures that reduce environmental load are promoted in the shopping centre. It participates in Sponda’s energy efficiency programme and special attention is paid to energy consumption. The programme aims to reduce the amount of energy consumed in the property, in cooperation with companies operating there. Zeppelin also has a recycling point, enabling the residents of the region and the tenants of the shopping centre to recycle waste efficiently, thus ensuring proper reuse.
