«Real estate investment company Sponda Plc and the Port of Helsinki have today, 11 April 2008, signed a contract to build the Vuosaari Harbour Service Center.
The project will be carried out in three phases, and the total investment for the first phase will be about EUR 12 million.
The first phase of the project comprises a building with a leasable area of roughly 2,600 square metres of offices and staff facilities, a 1,500 square metre building with service and repair workshops, and parking facilities for about 300 vehicles to serve these buildings. These are being constructed close to harbour gate C.
Construction of the office and staff facilities building and the service and repair workshop building will get underway in April 2008, and some of the premises willbe completed by the end of November 2008, when the harbour is opened, and the remainder by the end of February 2009. The premises serve the needs of the companies operating in Vuosaari Harbour.
At the moment, 60% of the premises in the Vuosaari Service Center have been leased, and the main tenants will be Multilink Oy and Steveco Oy.
In addition to the Service Center, Sponda is also building in Vuosaari Harbour the PortGate logistics complex, which comprises a logistics area of 130,000 square metres and the 18,000 square metre gatehouse complex, which will be a landmark in the harbour area. In the first phase of the logistics complex, some 70,000 square metres of logistics premises and the gatehouse building will be completed in November 2008» (CS della Società).
