«It will be the first property industry charity to feature at the world’s leading real estate event, MIPIM 2008. Founded by Adrian Wyatt OBE, Chief Executive of the leading property investment and development company Quintain, the Foundation develops and supports strategies for sustainability in urban environments. Its presence at MIPIM this year will be seen as an important milestone for the property sector and highlights the fast growing importance of sustainability in the industry today.

Adrian Wyatt will be speaking as part of the Environmental Challenge Panel on Wednesday March 12. He will discuss the role that developers can play in tackling climate change, the challenges that they face and steps that can be taken to resolve them.

The Foundation’s stand has been made possible through the kindness of DLA Pipers and has been designed on a pro bono basis by Imagination. To ensure that its presence at MIPIM is as sustainable as possible, the Sustainable Environment Foundation stand will be made from recyclable and sustainably sourced materials, including eco-friendly ink. Hilary Reid Evans, Head of Sustainability Initiatives at Quintain, who will be managing the Foundation’s stand, will also be travelling to Cannes by train.

The Foundation will also be promoting its own event during MIPIM as it prepares to host the Low Carbon World conference at the Royal Geographical Society in London on 17th April. Confirmed speakers include Zac Goldsmith, director of The Ecologist, Daniel Labbad, Chief Operating Officer of Lend Lease, Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO MASDAR and Liz Peace, Chief Executive Officer, British Property Federation. To see a full list of speakers and to register for the conference, please log on to www.lowcarbonworld.com'.

Hilary Reid Evans said: “As the property sector’s unique environmental charity, we are delighted to be attending MIPIM this year. For nearly 20 years this prestigious event has been at the forefront of new thinking and developments in the industry.

“Today, we need nothing less than a green industrial revolution in the urban environment. We are looking forward enormously to exploring real solutions to climate change with our industry colleagues in Cannes, and continuing those discussions at the Foundation’s own conference on 17th April 2008 in London.”
