Shangai: già 1.300 espositori al Salone delle costruzioni "Bauma China"

dal 25 al 28 novembre 2008

"Three months before bauma China 2008 opens in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), yet more exhibitors have been admitted to the event, in an extra exhibition hall. This brings the new total of exhibitors to over 1,300, on an expanded exhibition space of 210,000 square metres, divided up between 80,000 square metres of hall space and 130,000 square metres outdoors. Total exhibition space has thus leaped by 40 percent as compared to the previous event, and it´s the product segment the supplies industry that is benefiting above all. The number of international pavilions has also risen, to eight, with the addition of a Romanian pavilion.

The outdoor exhibition site is very well prepared to receive the heavy equipment that will be on display. "So far, for example, we have had registrations for 15 revolving tower cranes and 20 crawler cranes. In this segment bauma China, at just its fourth event, has set the bar at around the same mark as at bauma in Munich," said a delighted Collin Davis, Exhibition Director of bauma china.

The services to visitors have also been extended – because of the new layout of the exhibition centre and the ongoing building works right by the SNIEC, additional shuttle services are being put on.

In view of the expected high proportion of international trade visitors, the fair´s website (www.bauma-china.com) is already presenting the services in eight different languages. This should be a big help to visitors, particularly as regards organising visas and hotel rooms. Also, trade visitors can pre-register in advance at the website, which has the advantage that when they get to the fair, they have priority entrance via a separate counter.

These recent developments mean bauma China, taking place between 25 and 28 November 2008, is on course to be another record-breaker, at just its fourth event. Once more it will be demonstrating its status as a leading fair for the sector in Asia, where the building boom is continuing unabated.

According to China´s National Statistical Office, it was investment activity, above all in the building sector, that was the driving force behind the strong overall development of China´s economy in the first six months of 2008. Investment in construction in this period reached a volume of €210 billion, which is 25 percent higher than the same period the previous year. This means that around 18 percent of GDP went into investment in building and construction, a proportion that is twice as high as, for example, in Germany.

Currently under construction are, for example, several thousand kilometres of motorway, airport extensions, new large-scale airports and 220 port projects, with which China is seeking to double its capacity for container traffic by 2020. The biggest project of all currently is in Tianjin, 160 km east of Beijing. So far a sum of between three and four billion euros has been invested in this site alone.
