Tishman Speyer e Commerz Real insieme per una nuova "Torre" a Francoforte

21/01/2011

«The construction of the TaunusTurm in Frankfurt's banking quarter is set to start this month, announced the owners of the project, the joint-venture partners Tishman Speyer and Commerz Real AG, in a meeting with Mayor Petra Roth and representatives of the press. Tishman Speyer is the developer of the project; financing will be in the hands of Eurohypo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Commerzbank specializing in commercial real estate lending. The TaunusTurm building was designed by the Frankfurt architects Gruber + Kleine-Kraneburg Architekten.

"This project in a central position in the city clearly illustrates the dynamism which Frankfurt can unleash, that the city is emerging even stronger from the crisis and why it is setting the pace in the metropolitan region Frankfurt/Rhine-Main," says Lady Mayoress Petra Roth.

"This project reflects our strong confidence in the investment potential of the Frankfurt market and this outstanding location," said Tishman Speyer co-CEOs Jerry Speyer and Rob Speyer. "Frankfurt is not only an international financial capital, it has been called the most forward-looking city in Germany. We are proud to be able to help shape its future contours and look forward to a continued presence here."

"TaunusTurm, along with MesseTurm and OpernTurm, completes a development trilogy that Tishman Speyer is proud to have shepherded in Frankfurt," said Michael Spies, Tishman Speyer Senior Managing Director for Europe and India. "When completed, TaunusTurm will provide an efficient, flexible and sustainable office environment, befitting of this world-class city."

"We are convinced that the TaunusTurm building will be a success," says Hans-Joachim Kühl, Member of the Board Real Estate Markets of Commerz Real AG. "The property is located in the heart of the Banking Quarter. In combination with its state-of-the-art technical specifications the TaunusTurm fully satisfies the requirements of German and international users. This means that we're setting up a new benchmark in this prime location. At the same time we want to do justice to our responsibility to the market, make use of the positive signs of economic activity and use this project to make a contribution to the strengthening of the business location Frankfurt."

The 170-m-tall office tower on the corner of Neue Mainzer Strasse/Taunustor will have approx. 60,000 m2 of office space on 40 levels. Public areas will be on the ground floor, including a restaurant for employees and guests, or a business club complete with conference space. This "Green Building" will have a stone façade and is expected to be eligible for international LEED Gold certification or higher. TaunusTurm is uncompromisingly green also in terms of location: it will be the first building in Neue Mainzer Strasse with its entrance and lobby facing the adjacent park. The construction of the office tower will visibly enhance the park. Part of the site will be used to extend the green belt laid out on the city's former ramparts and access it by building a new promenade along the entire row of buildings. This is where the future residents of the 60-m-tall residential tower will enter their home - which gives them an address on Frankfurt's unique green belt».
