Germania, YOUNIQ AG realizza nuove case per studenti in tre citt universitarie

27/02/2012

Starting in spring 2012, YOUNIQ AG will realise a total of 761 student apartments in the up-and-coming campus towns of Bayreuth, Lübeck, and Potsdam. With its planned construction projects, Germany’s leading provider of student apartments is not only expanding its spectrum to include other attractive university towns, but is also responding to the great nationwide demand on the student housing market.

“During the 2011/2012 winter semester, first-year student enrolment hit a new record high across Germany. This trend is also manifest in Lübeck, Bayreuth, and Potsdam,” said Rainer Nonnengässer, CEO of YOUNIQ AG. “There are 23,000 young people enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam at the moment, a 28 percent increase over the past eight years. Bayreuth currently has 11,400 students enrolled at its university, Lübeck 3,150. Moreover, experts predict a further increase in student enrolment for the coming semesters, which will steadily drive up demand for student housing. The idea behind our latest assets is therefore not just to expand our portfolio, but also to help relief some of the strain on the student housing market in the long run.”

With a total investment volume of 13 million Euros, the company will raise 187 apartments on a plot of 5,200 square metres, situated at the corner of Paul-Ehrlich-Strasse/ Lise-Meitner-Weg.At the corner of Lenbachstrasse/ Bismarckstrasse in Bayreuth, the company is raising 236 student apartments on 5,800 square metres at a cost of 15 million Euros. Start of the construction work is scheduled for early April 2012, and the completion for the 2013/2014 winter semester. Finally, YOUNIQ AG is creating student housing in Brandenburg’s state capital of Potsdam, raising 338 apartments on a plot measuring 9,000 square metres on Kiepenheuerallee. The project has an investment volume of 26 million Euros, and is slated for completions by 2013.

All of the YOUNIQ projects are located in direct vicinity of campus. They were developed in collaboration with the market research institute Forsa on the basis of in-depth field research, and tailored to actual student needs – both in regard to fit-out and to costs. For instance, studio apartments with an average size of 20 square metres may be rented for an all-in rent of 410 to 450 Euros, including service charges and Internet access. In any of these three cities, the company expects the letting of these properties to progress swiftly – not least since inquiries started to come in as soon as the projects were announced.
