Francoforte, aprirà a Gateway Gardens il primo Hyatt Place hotel in Germania

On 2 March 2017 the Feuring Group, together with Union Investment and ARGE, consisting of the construction company Bilfinger Hochbau GmbH and Karl Gemünden GmbH in De-Saint-Exupéry-Strasse 4, held the topping-out ceremony for the new Hyatt Place Frankfurt Airport in Frankfurt Gateway Gardens. Completion of this brand’s first hotel in Germany is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.

The striking new building is located at the intersection of Bessie-Colemann-Strasse and De-Saint-Exupéry-Strasse, one of the most important intersections inside Gateway Gardens. On an area of about 19,000 square metres, the hotel will be offering 312 rooms, underground parking for approximately 110 cars, and two shops. Access to the Gateway Gardens station of the rapid transit railway currently under construction will be directly in front of the hotel, thus ensuring an optimum connection to Frankfurt’s inner city and the airport.

It was back in March 2016 that Union Investment signed a forward purchase agreement with the Feuring Group to acquire the hotel upon completion for the UniImmo: Global open public property fund. The Feuring Group will be operating the hotel as the lessee for the next 30 years under the Hyatt Place brand.

Matthias Lowin, Managing Director of the Feuring Group, opened the ceremony, after which Oliver Schwebel, Managing Director of Frankfurt Economic Development GmbH (Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt), conveyed greetings from the civic administration of Frankfurt am Main. Following subsequent speeches by Benno Geruschkat, Managing Director of Hyatt Services GmbH in Germany, and Volker Noack, a member of the board of management at Union Investment Real Estate GmbH, the foreman of the construction company Bilfinger Hochbau GmbH gave the ceremonial address required by tradition.

“With its innovative spatial concept, the Hyatt Place Frankfurt Airport creates something unique at Frankfurt Airport. The hotel helps to close the gap in provision created in recent years by the enormous increase in passenger numbers at Frankfurt Airport,” explains Matthias Lowin, Feuring’s Managing Director. “Our large corner rooms offer our guests magnificent views of the Gateway Gardens park. The brightly lit public areas on the ground floor will provide a welcoming entrance for our guests.”

To quote Oliver Schwebel, Frankfurt Economic Development GmbH: “We are delighted that our new Gateway Gardens business district will be the home of the first Hyatt Place hotel in Germany. This enriching addition to Frankfurt’s array of hotels is attributable not least to the location of Gateway Gardens, and shows that Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region stand for healthy growth and internationality.”

“Frankfurt’s new Gateway Gardens district, situated directly at the airport, continues to grow. The concept of the Hyatt Place Hotel fits in superbly with the distinctive flair of this district in terms of reachability, sophisticated urban planning, and internationality,” to quote Stefan Bockstaller, Project Manager Gateway Gardens at Fraport AG. “Another important aspect that proved persuasive for the Feuring Group is the rapid transit railway station under construction in the immediate vicinity, which will provide a direct link to Frankfurt’s inner city and the airport terminals. With the new rapid transit connection, the terminals can be reached in two minutes, Frankfurt main station in eight minutes, and the European Central Bank in 15 minutes.”

“In Frankfurt’s inner city, we so far have three hotels from our international stock. Upon completion, the new Hyatt Place Frankfurt Airport will be an ideal complement for this local portfolio,” says Volker Noack, a member of the board of management at Union Investment Real Estate GmbH.

To quote Benno Geruschkat, Managing Director of Hyatt Services GmbH in Germany: “Hyatt can look back on a long-standing, exceptionally successful collaboration with Feuring. The Hyatt Place Frankfurt Airport, following the successful completion of the Hyatt Regency in Düsseldorf, is now our latest joint development project, and one we are delighted to be sharing.”

Gateway Gardens, with 700,000 square meters of planned gross floor space on an area of 35 hectares, is one of the largest district development projects at an Airport City in Europe. Gateway Gardens was the first commercial district to receive the DGNB certificate in platinum for its sustainability. A marketing ratio of 44 per cent has meanwhile been achieved.
