Stoneweg Hospitality (“Stoneweg”) and Bain Capital Credit, LP (“Bain Capital Credit”), via their real estate hospitality joint venture (the “JV”), announce that the Marbella hotel acquired by the JV in June 2021 will become Hard Rock Marbella, following the completion of an agreement with Hard Rock Hotels, the global hospitality and entertainment brand.
The former Andalucía Plaza hotel complex is currently undergoing a complete transformation to convert the site into a Hard Rock Hotel with 384 rooms, including 50 suites.
Hard Rock Hotel Marbella, which is expected to welcome its first guests in June 2022, will have six onsite dining establishments, as well as an onsite spa and wellness facility with an indoor heated pool and gym. Additionally, the hotel’s meeting and event space is one of the largest in the Marbella market. Art and memorabilia throughout the hotel’s guest rooms and public spaces will reflect Hard Rock’s distinctive design aesthetic, while also showcasing Spain’s vibrant, artistic culture.
The hotel is located in the heart of Puerto Banús, one of Spain’s most exclusive destinations for international luxury tourism, which welcomes five million visitors every year. The resort is walking distance to the beach, marina, luxury designer boutiques and upmarket bars and dining options, including eight Michelin-starred restaurants, while several golf clubs are a short drive away. These amenities, as well as destination shopping and events, will make Hard Rock Hotel Marbella a year-round resort.
Fabio Longo, Managing Director at Bain Capital Credit, commented: “When we acquired this hotel we understood its underlying potential given its prime location in the heart of Puerto Banús on the Costa del Sol. By utilising our experience of turnaround situations of real estate and operating assets, we have been able to reposition this hotel in order to create additional value on behalf of our investors. The hotel has performed well since we acquired it in June and its conversion to a Hard Rock Hotel will ensure its continued success.”
