Prize Laureate and world renowned architect Toyo Ito will serve as Keynote Speaker at the FIABCI World Congress which will take place in Taichung, Taiwan from May 24-29. The FIABCI (“International Real Estate Federation”) World Congress is one of the most respected international real estate meetings which attracts global leaders who come together to network, build business, share experiences, advance industry knowledge and stimulate conversations.
Toyo Ito is an award-winning Japanese architect known for his innovative architecture. He has designed corporate buildings, museums, stadiums and commercial buildings and is motivated to create architecture which promotes smoothness and synergy between nature and humanity. He recently won the prestigious Pritzker Prize. The Pritzker Jury explained in their citation that «Toyo Ito is a creator of timeless buildings, who, at the same time charts new paths». They continued to say «His architecture projects an air of optimism, lightness and joy and is infused with both a sense of uniqueness and universality». He is known for his 2001 Sendai Mediatheque, a seven-story glass building comprised of tubes and platforms that was only slightly damaged by the Tohoku earthquake a few years ago.
Toyo Ito will speak during the Congress Opening Ceremony on Monday, May 27 at 9:00 am.
The Congress theme will spotlight “Innovation in Sustainable Development” and will set a platform for international participants to recognize differences in development patterns and public policies and better understand prospects and trends for real estate progress in Asia. The Congress will focus on traditional approaches for sustainable development as well as recent trends which advance theoretical and practical discussions, and recognizes sustainability through innovative applications of projects particular to Asia. It will also focus on efforts that Asian stakeholders have spent on ground-breaking technology to achieve green cities and look applications of technologies throughout the world.
