UK, va in vendita un building storico nell’ Oxfordshire

Global property adviser Knight Frank has been appointed to sell 18-19 Market Place, a ‘locally listed’ building in the town centre of the historic market town of Chipping Norton in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds.

Situated in the centre of Chipping Norton, 18-19 Market Place dates back to the late nineteenth century and features an impressive dressed stone façade. Purpose built for Midland Bank, the building was formerly occupied by HSBC and includes historic period features including a striking Banking Hall, which rises through two storeys.

With gardens and grounds to the rear offering views over the neighbouring countryside, this historic property benefits from permissions for conversion to ground floor retail with residential use on the upper floors and rear wing. Current planning is being sought for the creation of a 30-bedroom boutique hotel with associated bar, lounge and restaurant.

The popular town of Chipping Norton is widely considered the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’ and includes a range of local amenities including shops, pubs, restaurants and a weekly local market. The building is situated on the A44, a popular ‘A’ road which runs from the city of Oxford, through the Cotswolds and links with Worcester. It is also in close proximity to the neighbouring historic town of Banbury, which is 13 miles to the north east, as well as to Oxford, which is 22 miles to the south east and provides access to mainline rail links. Nearby occupiers include the popular Soho Farmhouse and the quaint Cotswolds Hotel, Spa and Golf.
